Reno will be hosting the WAC basketball tournament in 2009-10.

Las Cruces was in the running but lost out. WAC commissioner Karl Benson made the announcement on Wednesday.

Again?
Didn't they host it 3 of the past 4 years?

I guess the WAC's spoiled baby needs all the help they can get. They didn't win the tourney w/ a ranked team last year.
Now that NMSU is the WAC's TOP DOG, Reno is getting all the help they can get.

I didn't think we would get it but, San Jose or Fresno are intriging locations.

McKinley Boston said that Salt Lake City seemed like a definite possibility following the 2 years in Reno.

I dont get it, they said one of the main reasons NMSU didnt get it is because they thought it would be unfair to let a city host 4 years. Yet prior to coming to Las Cruces it was in Reno for 4 years and it's going back to Reno for 2 more. 6 out of 8 WAC tourneys will have been or will be in Reno. Despite the fact that Las Cruces set a high in attendance.

Sounds like the WAC doesnt really care about what happens on the court as long as the corporate sponsors are happy. I mean what else could it be if you had a choice between Reno and Las Cruces, most people would chose reno for their extra curriculars, however from strictly a athletics standpoint we kicked Nevada's butt in staging the tournament, for both the men's and women's tournament.

The only "fair" thing to do is to let the tournament rotate between each campus for two years, if the WAC really wants to be fair.
That said, Nevada should have been closer to the bottom of the list, not the top.

My preference is definitely LC. But if not there, Reno works for those of us who like to watch college hoops and gamble. More imporantly, I hope Menzies can coach as well as he appears to be able to recruit. With good coaching and talent, the Aggies should compete regardless of location.

Talent wise, it looks like the Aggies blow a lot of WAC teams out of the water. I think in basketball though, more so than any other sport, chemistry is the most important element. I'm just going to see how this season goes before looking ahead to 2009-10. A lot can happen between now and then.

We have an intruder on the board

Funny how sportmanship has SURE gone out the door and some people have to resort to name calling and isolation from reality.

The players scored the points.
Reggie never scored a point for us and we still won!

NMSU is the Top Dog w/ or w/o Reggie.

You know what's funny. I've been talking w/ Nevada fans on message boards and they seem to believe the ONLY reason Las Cruces set a record for attendance at last years tourney was that, now get this, "Nevada brought around 3,000 people with them". Nevada fans in BB are like Boise fans in FB, they think that the world would totally end without them.
