One stat that has been largely overlooked from last night's Nevada game was the battle on the boards. Nevada outrebounded NMSU 40-35. That hasn't happened much to the Aggies this year who have been a very strong rebounding team.
I'm not overlooking the fact that the team gave up 98 points but getting out-boarded certainly plays a factor as well. It goes to show that Nevada was probably the more physical team and the aggressor most of the evening.
The Aggies should out-board Fresno tonight. Again, I expect an NMSU win. But that really only goes so far. The last time I said win, they went to Nevada.

As you mentioned in your previous post, the "key" stat was Nevada's FG%. But you are right on this post too - getting out-rebounded is rare for NMSU. The other telling stats are blocks (Reno had 8, NMSU 1) and Reno shot 10 more FTs. All the aforementioned stats suggest Nevada was the more aggressive team. I've mentioned several times in the past that Nevada is the only WAC team that matches up well with our bigs. This puts pressure on our guards, and they could not deliver.
Surprisingly, there were several stats that favored NMSU: turnovers (NMSU 11, Reno 18); steals (NMSU 7, Reno 3); and 3-point FGs made/percentage. Both teams made five 3-pointers, but Reno took two more shots. Ags better immediately shelve the "matador defense" or FSU's guard tandem will put it to them as well. I'm sure Bell and Miller are salivating at the game film. Go Aggies!

Hey Teddy,
Go back to disliking Aggie basketball, and they will get back on the winning track. Once you jumped on the bandwagon the lost to Nevada.
They should get the Michigan woman's coach in here to give his speech about offensive rebounds.

I don't think me commenting on the team, one way or the other, correlates with their inconsistent play on the court.
All I am trying to say is that you do not support Aggie basketball one bit, then when you do, it is fake.
