Another verbal, a possible scholarship offer and some clarification

The Aggies received another verbal commitment, this one coming from Dylan Lusk, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive guard from Centennial High School in Arizona.

Click here for some info on Lusk....

NMSU continues to add to its offensive line and has done a nice job building depth here.

I also hear that the team offered a scholarship to Rio Rancho High School wide receiver Adam Shapiro. At 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Shapiro just completed his senior season at RR.

Here's a story on Shapiro from this past summer.

Lastly, some clarification regarding recruits. Some have asked about David Grant, an offensive lineman who was thought to have verbally committed to NMSU. As it turns out, Grant will not be coming.

One player who still appears to be on his way, although not listed on some Web sites, is offensive lineman Randy Richards. From what I understand, Richards is still a part of this year's Aggie recruiting class.

Thanks for the update. How many scholarships are still available?

I admit to not being a judge of horseflesh, but it seems to me that we are getting better recruits than we have in the past.

Thank you, coach Walker.

Great question, I read something on DE Lexington Smith. Do we have enough scholarships available to offer to both?

Looks like if Grant drops out that leaves 2-3 scholarships left? ESPN website has Randy Richards and Robert Williamson listed.

Richards is a 2star center, and Williamson is 3star JUCO DE. Additionally Scout.com has Frank Padilla a 1star JUCO FB.

Any ideas about the "big-time" Pac-10 recruit that was talked about on this blog recently???

Do the Aggies still have a commitment from Rob Williamson?

Some answers:

Rob Williamson will not be joining NMSU after all.

According to head coach DeWayne Walker, the team has two scholarships available.

Seth Smith will also be getting a scholarship this year after walking on in 2009.

It now appears that Matin Ifedi has backed out as well.

Good news for Smith, he earned it. If Richards is on board and there are still two scholarships available. Who do you think gets them? Your post mentions Shapiro, someone brought up L. Smith, and JD mentioned Padilla. Lets not forget the PAC 10 stud Boss Hogg mentioned last week. Any chance we land all of the, and get 2 to grey shirt?

Looks like both rivals and scout has Ifedi dropped from their lists. I would figure all this scrambling is pretty common in the final week heading up to signing day.

Teddy you mentioned that there was 2 scholarships left. Looks like we need to update the numbers or CDW has a few guys that have kept the lid on their commits??

By looks like if you include Padilla and Smith then there are 14 out of 17. Still leaves room for and ATH or WR???? Seems like CDW is building from inside out which is only a good thing.

Nice to see us landing a kid like Lusk from one of the Premier HS FB Programs in AZ. The school he went to puts about 5-8 kids a year into D-1. Arizona should be a area where the Aggies get 3-4 kids a year especially out of the Phoenix area. FYI, Boise State has about 8 kids on their Roster from AZ. UA & ASU can't get them all and all that is left as a option is NAU which is 1-AA and Juco's.

I saw where Trevor Walls WR from High School was offered by Notre Dame. Derek Roback is his name.

I made a comment here about two weeks ago about a Pac-10 caliber defensive lineman signing with NMSU. I was just informed that the kid will NOT enroll at NMSU (academics)but will probably end up at the Pac-10 school that he verbaled to out of high school. Too bad! He would have been a great addition to the D-line.
