Gabriel signs

Chris Gabrield, big man, signed with the Aggies today. Groves wrote something on it. Sorry about just posting articles everyone, I know it's pretty lame and I prefer to write original content. At the same time, it seems to generate a buzz

Any news on any other players on the radar screen?

Great for the Aggies, but what the heck is going on Pope? My gut feeling is we (Aggie fans) will never see Herb on the court in an Aggie uniform. Either he will have to go to a Junior College and then off to the NBA or a BCS conference school after one year. I knew when we signed him it was too good to be true! Very disappointing for all involved I'm sure. I just dont see anything positive happening after how long it has taken so far

Great signing.
Now if we can get some wins and some chemistry. We are gonna be something special.

hey how about some more reporting on the Jamhar Young and Herb Pope scenarios...? Havent seen anything with regard to interviews of the two players, and what happens if they get approved (i.e. how long till they see the court if approved) or are they going to stay in school should they not (or would they transfer to a juco to get back on track then be re-recruited etc).

Either way where the hell is the contingency planning from Menzies. At what point does he cut bait and get hawkins et al to focus on what we got instead of what we don't. He's a considerate guy, and we can appreciate the public sympathy he is expressing but dammit... let's keep the tradition rolling that Reggie restored for us and WIN baby!!!

The latest news- Pope is in the hospital after an incident involving his hand/finger? It is an injury which is more than minor. I think this kid just needs to give it a rest this season. The signs are all pointing at him sitting out and waiting until next season.

sweet injured during a cruces pick up game. Bet there is some tough competition at the AC for him to keep his skills dialed in.

Really too bad we had games against 3 nationally ranked teams and televised in the first three weeks of the season and our guys show up defeated because this elgibility crap. Good point Anon.. Menzies needs to get our guys walking on the court expecting to win. With the right attitude we still have the talent to beat these guys. Without Young and Pope at very least we should be as good or better than last.. Great so we lost ingram etc. but the core is still there and a year more experienced.

I hope Pope doesn't decide to sign with a junior college ... as of right now, it seems the best situation would be to red-shirt him this season and have him hit the weights like a madman to regain his strength and durability. The team is coming together with Gibson stepping up big-time ... allowing J.Gib to grow into the player Theus saw when he was recruiting him out of LA. Hawkins/Gibson/Peete are capable of carrying the team, which will allow Pope to redshirt this season and come back stronger and more mature next year ... if he DOES get eligible within the next two weeks? I'd say put him in the game right away, but then you have to consider the ill-effects of all the practice time he has missed and how huge presense would effect the developing team-chemistry ...
It would've been nice to have him against Duke, Texas and West Virginia, but we'll take having him for conference play at least.
