NMSU rolling

New Mexico State is absolutely destroying the competition. The question is, where did this come from, and will it continue?

Obviously the team faces a huge test this week in Nevada and Fresno State. The talent has always been there with NMSU. They are playing good ball and at the perfect time. Are they peaking? One would hope. We will know a lot more when they travel to Reno.

Nevada needs the win just as badly as the Aggies. It's a bunched conference and a handful of teams are in the running for the top spot. And Fresno State is better then their record indicates. They have some scorers on that team that can shoot and get to the basket - namely Kevin Bell.

This is crunch time in college bball. The Nevada game should be great, very exciting, both teams don't like each other. If NMSU goes to Nevada and wins, it will be a huge statement. I've been hesitant to proclaim that the team has put it all together at this point. They have had some big wins of late, but against teams that are inferior. A win in Reno would certainly sway my opinion and make me feel more comfortable going into the WAC tourney.

Still, some losses have been alarming, namely the one against the Wolf Pack in Las Cruces. It's time for the Aggies to avenge that loss and bounce back with a W. And it seems they are ready for the challenge.

NMSU is a bunch of overated, selfish bums.
This team is more interest in their numbers.

You think we dominated NMSU earlier in the year? Wait till Thursday, we will tear the Gaggies apart!
Our guards will once again outplay your guards, McGee will block every shot and Kemp will drop 40!

We OWN the Gaggies!!!

The Aggies have looked great, and they look their best when no player scores over 15 points. I love to see box scores like the one on Saturday, where it seemed like every single player who played contributed to the victory. Sure, when we play better teams, Hawkins and Gibson will likely have to step up, take most of the shots, and carry the scoring burden. But in games where the opposing team is clearly worse, balanced scoring is ideal.

On that note, how the heck did the Aggies get paired up with Long Beach. I realize we did not have the best pre-conference record, but they paired us up with an awful team in an awful conference. Don't get me wrong: I'm glad the Aggies had a long break and used Saturday to rid themselves of the rust, but there is no way we should have been paired with LBSU.

The Aggies need to close out conference on a strong note. We need to avoid the sweep to Nevada, even though that requires us to beat them in Reno. Fresno could very well be a trap game. Go Aggies.

3-6 against other conferences this past weekend? So much for conference RPI-like any WAC team can rely on THAT for anything this season-tourney champ is the only way-and why didn't we get someone like SIU or Cal-Poly-hey, a win's a win,it's payback time GO AGGIES!-Az Aggie

Wolfpack Jack: Big words in support of a team that just got blasted by 25 points at the hands of a Southern Illinois team on a down year.

I see a Reno fan is making his prediction. "We OWN the Gaggies".
I hate to say it but we are 1-5 vs. Nevada since joining the WAC.

We need to change this and have to do it in Reno.
Tough game to win. Time to see what the Aggies are all about.

Wolfpup Jack. Your team is falling apart. Your team got wacked in your bracket buster game. Are things that bad at the University of Reno that you have to write in our blog?? Crawl back in your hole. The Aggies will beat Reno. We are peaking at the perfect time. I know it was Long Beach State but we took care of business and then some. WAC tournament here we come.

I think this is the first time this blog has seen decent smack. Too bad the jerk has no idea what he's talking about. We are dishing out dimes at a great rate, and really gelling as a team. I CAN'T WAIT!

Blah, blah, blah!!!
NMSU is all talk. You will never beat the Wolfpack at home!

We will beat you by 20 and then we are going to Albuquerque in March and beat you in your house. Make it our house cause we own the PanAm center!

Remember, we own you 5-1...6-1 after Thursday!

Brokeback Wolfback Jack can talk all the smack he wants. Nevada is a thing of the past, and he can't get used to it. Hey by the way Jack, how many WAC titles have the pack won in a row? Oh, zero, that's weird, who won the WAC last year? That's right punk, it's on now.

Back to the post. The Aggies win over Long Beach State was sort of impressive, they lagged a lot at the end, and continue to lack that 'killer instinct,' just being able to bury their opponents. As good as a 32 point win was, they should have won that game by 50. I'm more and more impressed with Pope every game, he's coming together nicely. Hawkins will do his part to lead the team down the stretch, and Gibson has turned into a nice, balanced guard. The biggest surprise on the team is Passos, where did he come from? I never liked his play before, but he's finally getting aggressive and hitting some shots. It's going to be interesting to see if they can get the job done, then Wolfpack Jack can go back in hiding like he did last year when UNR folded like the little chumps they are.
