Ground game should be fine

The loss of Justine Buries will hurt to a degree. Justine was a solid player and he provided a different presence in the Aggie backfield last season. When both he and Tonny Glynn were healthy, NMSU's ground attack was very solid. Solid with Justine and explosive with Tonny. And they were a strong combo.

Still, NMSU has brought in some backs in the offseason. And I'm sure Justine felt like the odd-man-out to a degree. Glynn needs to stay on the field. And the Aggies will need a newcommer or two to emerge as a bonafide ball carrier. I've said it before and I'll say it again. A healthy Aggie offense will put up points. They proved that last year. And with that, the team will be competitive. Still, injuries are a part of the game. To avoid them, it takes some luck.

As much as I like Buries. A change in scenery and new faces are probably best for both him and NMSU.
Buries was a bruiser (6'0" 225lb) and the new RB's are smaller, quicker backs that fit into Mumme's system better.

I'm not getting excited about the upcoming season, yet.
I was very excited last year and also for this years MBB team. Both were dissapointments and I will keep a level head and my feet on the ground when it comes to expectations.

I see Mumme will have a press conference of his new recruits later today. Keep us posted.

What ground game? For the most part, RB's in the air raid offense are blockers and occassionally receivers out of the backfield. Mumme has an aversion to running the ball. With J. Buries and J. Williams gone, who will pound the ball between the tackles in short yardage situations? T. Glynn is an open field runner who seems to be shy about rushing the ball inside.

Holla . . .

I think the football team, if healthy, will surprise people this year. Last season, the expectations were high. And with a full deck, the team was alright. Obviously, things fell apart. But I think the team will be around the .500 mark and may even break it in 2008.

We are going to pass the ball more next year than we have done in the past three years. We don't need the running back who pounds the ball inside. We need running backs who are going to be able to catch the ball out of the back field. Buries, and Williams didn't have that speed that we will see with Glynn, and the new running backs coming in. Plus, we could always use Perez for short yardage next season.

Mumme would have better luck just signing the entire Mayfield team.

105 out of 110 in recruiting?

LOL
