An unnamed source informed the Sun News on Thursday that there is a realistic chance that NMSU freshman forward Herb Pope will seek an injunction, which would allow him to practice and play for the Aggies this season pending the outcome of the initial certification process. The source also included Pope's fall semester was a successful one at NMSU in the classroom.
For those of you who have been around, how does this compare to former Lobo Kenny Thomas, who filed an injunction against the NCAA as a freshman in 1995. A judge ruled in Thomas' favor and he was ultimately cleared as a freshman, but had to sit for part of his senior season.

Kenny Thomas was a long time ago, refresh us as to why he had to sit during his senior year? Was that part of the deal, is that normally what happens in an injunction?
Can you fill us in on the academic status of the three in question.
If there was ever a time for NMSU to get aggressive in the Pope case it is now. With possibly the two best players on the team on the verge of being done for the year. Way to have senior leadership, two seniors dont make the grade, and the one guy who has had his season put on hold by grades, may have made the grades to allow him onto the court.
This is a negative situation, and to those of you who feel like you are the only true Aggie fans because you are not pointing out all of the negative things that are going on in Aggie sports, then you are as a blind to the situation as our Athletic Department. Come on, this is just as much Boston and Menzies' fault as it is the Seniors. I am dissapointed in Hawkins because he is the best player on the team. I thought he would have a real opportunity to play in the NBA. Now, who knows.
The bottom line is, if you come to play for a college basketball team you have to be eligible. That's it. Every college team in the nation has their share of problems, but you would have to admit that our reputation has taken another hit, and the season is now in doubt. If you think this is not going to affect crowds at the remaining games you are kidding yourself. But you can always just say, "Stop being so Negative Fair Weather Fans, dang!"
Dear Santa: All us long-suffering Aggie faithful want for Christmas is 1) a RESPECTABLE football season in '08 and 2)a wake up call/miracle/thunderbolt(whatever it takes)to motivate this current Aggie basketball team to become a WINNER and not a whiner.It's going to be a long cold WAC season with an unhappy ending if things don't change for the better soon. I hate to say this, but it looks like this year will be a rebuilding year for the Men's Aggie basketball team. I guess we are going to have to live with the growing pains of a young team and a new coach.
