J.Y.

As the New Mexico State men's basketball team gets a few days off until this Thursday when they tavel to Utah State, we turn our attention to Jahmar Young.

Young is having a remarkable year scoring the basketball. He dropped 32 versus San Jose State at home and then came back on Saturday with 25 points against Hawaii.

Jahmar leads the WAC with 18.3 points per game and has been solid throughout the year. I can think of only one game where he played really bad and that was hosting Nevada. Other than that, he's been solid, if not spectacular.

I don't know where the team would be without Young. A few more losses seem to be just about right though.

JY is having a great season, and I think his success can be attributed to his increased maturity. During his freshman year, he was wild and throwing up shots. He was good, but now, he's calmed down and it seems he is seeing the game a lot clearer now. Look at his FGA-FGM during the game versus Hawaii. He missed very few times, especially for a shooting guard who creates his own shots. Jon Gibson needs to take some notes from JY in shot-selection.
Good job JY! Keep it up!

He still tends to dissapear for long stretches.
I know he can't score every time he touches the ball but, I wish he did the little things better when he's not shooting.

The guy that we really can't do with out is Wendell.
At 6'5 he plays like a seven footer and has the heart of a lion!!
Where would we be had he not returned?

JY is having a good season and lets just hope that he doesnt transfer out. He's the leading scorer in the WAC and I doubt he came here to not win a championship or go to the NCAA during his first two years. He can stay and hope that we get better in the next two years or go somewhere where he feels he can do better

Rumors are that JY transferring is a real possibility. I hope we have a backup plan!

What rumors? here comes a couple of morons stirring up crap about crap. JY is emerging as the leader of this team. He's got a solid point guard to give him good looks and he's improving every game. Why would he leave?

Anon 6:07,
When JY leaves, you'll look back and think, "Maybe it wasn't crap about crap." They're just saying that it's a real possibility of him transferring to a bigger school, especially if Theus is hired at the U of A. He came to here, from Baltimore to play for Theus, so it would make sense.

Theus ain't going to be hired at UoA. LOL. And come on. Why not give us some sources for these rumors if you are so confident it's a real possibility.

I really don't think JY would leave. If he leaves here, he will have to sit out one year and then possibly have to compete with someone that is just as capable as him! He is the MAN here and he seems to like that and going to a big school would definitely put that in jeopardy. I know he is capable of playing anywhere, he will have to start over and compete for a starting spot. They will dominate next year, so why leave!!!! That's only my opinion on that situation though....

anon 9:23 - I share that opinion.

Young should be 1 of 3 players who have a shot at 2009 WAC Pre-Season Player of Year.
