Boston, Ward

McKinley Boston said that he will meet again with Rocky Ward on Monday as the two continue to figure out the future of NMSU baseball and if Ward will, in fact, be back with the program next season.

I don't see Boston letting go of Ward at this point. If he was not going to bring him back, don't you think he would have done it already? No need to string along this process if the inevitable awaits anyway.

At the same time, he didn't solidify anything on Friday, letting the coach twist in the wind. Again, I would suspect Ward to be back with the program. But we'll see what happens as the process moves into next week.

Another example of how Boston really doesn't care about the coaches he didn't hire.I can't imagine any of these people really wanting to work for this guy. Its all about Boston and he obviously doesn't communicate well with his coaches.

Are you kidding me? You're the AD and you are just now trying to figure out what the state of the program was before he got there? How about doing some research all year long when you know this day is coming. Hey Boston; the football program was bad, the women's basketball program was bad, the softball program was bad, the track program was bad and the men's basketball program had taken a two year dip. Oh, the baseball program was treading water too. Other than volleyball, the other programs were in need of a "jolt"! But who really cares about volleyball anyway.

I do feel for the coaches who Boston made WAIT when he could have taken care of the contract during their season. if an opportunity opens to where our coaches can BOLT for another school. Don't be surprised when it happens. How can these coaches be expected to work for Boston? Sorry coaches, just keep at it.

Hey Boston; let Rockys kids know they can stay here. Will ya?

Good luck Rocky.

Boston knows there is something wrong with the baseball program. It does not take a genius to figure out it is the coach. It is better to take some time to decide whether to keep Rocky or not. My opinion is that it might be better to bring in a new coach to set up new long run goals for the baseball program.

Rocky is going to get one more year. Has some talented recruits coming in that are going to need to produce right away. I see him getting a two year contract, nothing more.

Anon 3:53 -- yeah all the programs were bad, and things started to improve with the arrival of Mac. He's doing a great job, no doubt.

Boston, Boston, Boston. He just wants to see another article with his name in it.

He should've made the move a year ago if he was going to do it.

Yes, there is something wrong with the baseball program. How in the world can you not have a good baseball program in a warm weather location like Las Cruces? Sure, the stadium needs to be upgraded but the playing field itself is really nice.

Boston; make a move - don't make a move! One way or another just get it done so everyone knows where they stand and can move forward.

I don't know why people are jumping on Boston to make a quick decision. If Rocky felt the way some of you do, I'm sure he would have already asked Boston to make a choice post haste. The fact that they are working together to reach the RIGHT decision just shows both want what is in the best interest of the program. Of course Rocky wants the job, but he understands he doesn't have much leverage at the table and is being patient.

Hey, How long has Rocky been here? What has he done? Can he do anymore? Too long, No and No. End of research.

Man, that was harsh....

Pretty easy to talk about all this stuff when you all have nothing to do with it, isn't it? The lazyboy recliner with a beer in hand is the position of "know it alls" around here.

Boston drags his feet so maybe the coaches will get mad and just leave, thus, saving him from having to fire them.

The new Prez is going to come in here and realize we DO NOT have the money needed to keep pace with the WAC and again, a change will be made. So it really doesn't matter. Baseball will never bring in any money so just keep Rocky and let's get ready for some football. We better or we'll be watching a 1-AA or D2 squad in a few years. Oh, what a match-up; NMSU hosts Western New Mexico on "think pink" night.

great playing surface? are you kidding? the entire facility is terrible! sure for the average person who lives in las cruces it looks "great" but for anyone with anyone with any knowledge of the game it is terrible. especially if you compare it to the rest of the WAC. get a clue! warm weather doesnt mean anything when the rest of the conference has decent weather as well. (besides nevada).rocky is a bad coach but do you think NMSU can get much better with the salary they pay? They spend it all on mumme! great job boston
