KT to HB

Some news coming out of the first week of spring football practice is that running back Kenny Turner will be moving to H-back in Doug Martin's new offensive system for the New Mexico State Aggies.

Turner led the Aggies on the ground last year, rushing for 461 yards and two touchdowns — he averaged 4.0 yards per carry. He was third on the team with 25 receptions for 203 yards.

Turner played in 10 games last year and sat out some games late in the season with a knee injury.

He was considered one of the few gamebreaking-type players the Aggies had on offense last season.

Turner is now 100 percent healthy and is playing a new position.

In Martin's offense, the H-back is reserved for a versatile playmaker. Turner will still line up as a traditional running back and get carries, but will also be put in motion and line up outside or in the slot, asked to turn into a receiver.

One of Turner's adjustments to H-back will be route running on intermediate pass plays — 5-to-15 yards from the line of scrimmage.

If you head out to spring practice, it's worth keeping an eye on.

I noticed Fakalata was at center today. What about Grady?

Mike Grady had surgery on his right foot to remove scar tissue. He'll be ready for the season, don't know about spring though.

so, we are returning to the hal mumme style of offense? everyone hated it back then, but now its ok to put in? i don't get it. have we recruited the type of players, especially offensive lineman to handle this? what about defense, so when we have all the turning the ball over on downs, we are back to defense and quickly. do tell us.

I like Robert Clay. I thought he brought it last year and ran hard

And he's getting carries this spring. Offensive coord. Doug Martin said he would like to get Clay and Turner on the field at the same time this season.

What ever happened to the Enriquez kid? The corner that was kicked off the UNM team last season. If I recall, he was a decent player. Did we try recruiting him at all?

Hey teddy what do you think about the the lbs this year i feel they are solid and tuff

I think they have a lot to prove.

B.J. Adolpho has potential and could be in line for a good year. He loves to play and goes all out.

Boyblue Aoelua was good enough against the run last season but was a step slow in pass coverage. He'll be pushed by Alexander LaVoy at middle linebacker.

There is a hole at strongside backer.

The team will need LaVoy to step in and bring a boost. It would also help if Dylan Davis and Anthony Joyner — freshman last year — step up.

The team will blitz more.

Hey teddy what do u think of us having a 1,000 rusher this year.I feel we can go 7and 6 am i crazy!!

I think Robert Clay could be in for a good year, but I don't see this team having a 1,000-yard rusher.

As for your 7-6 prediction, I don't think you're crazy. You may need a little help though.

No, but seriously, I think the Aggies will be better this year. Seven wins though? That won't happen.

Teddy, I was not able to catch any spring ball this year but plan to go to every home game. What is to be expected. Did this new offense prove to be an improvement? How did Clay look? And how about the linebackers? You mentioned their was a big hole to be filled, who is filling it at the moment?
