Aggies lose....

....42-10 to Miners.

I thought the Miners would win by double digits - but not by 32. I was thing 10-17 would be the difference.

I can't say I'm surprised though. The Aggies have a long way to go. I did think the NMSU defense would be much better at this point. They have been torched since the opener against San Diego State.

There has been zero pass rush and cornerback Jonte Green and Davon House have been disappointments. I don't know if Green was hurt or what on Saturday but he had a bad game.

Thoughts are encouraged following this one.....

Gutless, heartless, and spineless is how this team plays!!

I said it last week and I'll say it again:
No one likes to be told they have an ugly baby...Coach your baby (defense) is pretty damn UGLY!!

I'm giving the offense a pass beacause it's brand new but, your defense is allowing a whopping 41.5points a game and now you have lost 10 straight!!

This defense can't even stop my sons 7 yr old YMCA team!!

Jesus I showed more fight walking up to the stadium. The Aggies never seemed quite ready to play this game and a couple of things stood out to me.

First, I understand that Walker wont turn us around in his second year. We have a long way to go. However, we can expect him to deliver a good defense. He is a defensive minded person and there is no excuse for watching the defense that we are watching right now. Mumme didnt win a whole lot of games but his offense was exactly what he said it would be; a pass happy one. Its embarrassing to watch them play. One can argue that they spend too much time on the field because the offense cant move the ball but they let UTEP score on their first three drives. They couldnt stop them. Its just a pathetic unit.

For the second week in a row, it seems like if we didnt lose the game from the start we sure lost it after half. We scored, stopped UTEP, and then had a chance to tie the game. We could have driven down and scored a TD, then gotten the ball back in the 2nd half and scored another TD. Tie game. Instead, we come out flat AGAIN and hand the Miners the game. There seems to be a problem with this time after the half and I think Walker needs to do something about it. You cant let a team come out flat two weeks in a row after half. But he has done just that, that has to change.

It looks more like the team doesn't regroup for the second half of games. It is more of a coaching problem than skills. The coaches don't adjust to what they are seeing in the first half. That has happened the last two games.

What I like about football season at NMSU is that basketball follows right afterward.

Thank heavens.

Strange start to the season - weak defense, decent offense. The opposite of last year. And last year, we seemed to have consistently productive adjustments after half time. This year, not yet.

It's gonna be a looong season - but I'm not jumping ship. CDW is the right leader, Dunbar's been a good hire and I'm still confident that they'll turn it around.

It's gonna get uglier with our fans in the meantime, however. Particularly if we can't beat the Low Blows.
