Some recruiting news

I spoke with Compton College defensive tackle Branden Warner today.

Warner, who, from my interpretations, verbally committed to UCLA, said that he is still exploring his options as far as colleges is concerned. It has been reported that Warner could be on his way to NMSU. He was non-committal about it over the telephone.

“Not right now,” Warner said when asked if he wanted to comment on the Aggies. “I still got other options. Nothing's definite, I'm not sold, not yet.”

Warner seems like a big-time prospect. According to espn.com he had offers from Florida, Arizona and Washington State. You have to go to Page 5 of the ESPN document to view his information. Very interesting stuff.

Thanks for the report. Nice job. Can you add any personal feelings you may have got from him as to which way he might be leaning? Give us your odds on him being an Aggie.

What about Kevan Walker? Any chance of luring him away from Oregon St.?

Lets make it a family affair in Las Cruces!

While Warner's quote is not encouraging, and my conversation with him was short, I have a good feeling about him. I think he is strongly considering NMSU. That's really the main thing. The Aggies are on his radar.

Odds? I think there's a 65 percent chance NMSU lands him. I think new coach DeWayne Walker and the Aggie staff are getting some talented kids to play football here. If Warner trusts the staff, that's a big plus right there. He would be quite the catch. It would certainly be a nice feather in the Aggies' cap.

Maybe with that other Compton kid coming, we'll get some traction with Warner.
