How can Mumme not bring Holbrook?

Hal Mumme is bringing receiver Chris Williams and safety Derrick Richardson to media day this week in San Jose. Chase Holbrook should be there. He’s the face of the team and every other program is bringing its top dog. It would be a hot button topic for media members there to explore and give further notoriety to NMSU.

Colt Brennan will get the majority of attention whether Holbrook is there or not. But still, Chase will garner national recognition this season and his presence should be felt at media day. The Aggies are banking on a breakout year and are riding the arm of their QB. Williams makes sense as he’s a star. And Richardson is a beast. But Holbrook should be there as, right now, he’s the face of the program.

I'm really surprised about Chase not going.
Both he and Williams should be their. Richardson is up and coming but, I could not identify him if he bumped into me at the mall.

The only thing that I can think of is, Mumme will take Chase next year when Chase will be a Heisman (long shot) candidate. So he, can get all the attention/ hype!

You would think that the first person to be there would be Holbrook, unless he has more important prior commitments. Maybe he's taking summer courses or something like that.

Or maybe Mumme's just saying Holbrook won't be there so that he can parachute in through the glass windows and steal the spotlight from Brennan....nah, this still won't be enough to get the media from gawking over Colt Brennan for even a second.

So what if Chase is not the conference media day?
This is only important to you because you are a journalist.
Why don't don't you step outside your small box and create conversation about a topic that would interest all sports fans?
By the way...Dr. Martin sure put you in your place at Coach Menzie's introductory press conference! That was classic.

I don’t recall Dr. Martin putting me in my place my friend. But if you got some kicks out of it than more power to you.

As for Holbrook not being here, it does have something to do with me being a journalist. But not really. I’ll interview Chase every day. The real concern is getting NMSU attention and he is a face that would. He will throw for yardage, TD’s and lead an explosive offense. June Jones talked about how Chase was a dynamic passer during his press conference and said he was one of the most talented players in the WAC. That’s great. Now people can ask Chris Williams about Holbrook and not question the man himself.

Coach Mumme told me that he brought Chase here last season and wanted to switch it up. Aside from that, Mumme said that he would be overshadowed by Brennan. That probably is true as the Hawaii QB was the vocal point throughout Day 1 in San Jose. But I think you bring your most marketable player and Chase fits that bill for the Aggies.

Dang Teddy, did you do something in this life or your past life to some of these posters? Quick to criticize, so why don't some of you guys apply the next time there's an opening at the Sun News? See if you can do a better job.

Mumme didn't take Chase Holbrook, because he did take him last year. Chris Williams deserved to go to it this year, because of the season he had a year ago. I thought you could only take 1 offense, and 1 defense of player, so that is why Chase didn't go. Pretty sure Chase will go next season.

Agreed. Chase will be there for sure next year. And Mumme did say that due to him being in attendance last year that he wanted to switch things up
