Going against Boise

The importance of Monday's Aggie game versus Boise State is self explanatory.

NMSU needs to win. First off, every win leading up to the WAC Tournament is important. And with that being said, every loss is important as well. As in, you'd like to avoid them.

Boise is breathing down the Aggies' neck for third place. And with a 1-0 lead in the season series, a Monday night win would give the Broncos the tiebreaker.

If the tourney tipped off today, NMSU would face San Jose State. I think that's a favorable matchup for the Aggies - they've swept the Spartans this season, in close games no doubt, but still won both and I think they match up well with SJSU.

I think most would like to avoid Idaho if they could. The Vandals have been scrappy this year and have given NMSU - and just about every other WAC school - problems at some point or another.

But really, I think just getting wins going into the tourney is huge. You wanna feel good going into the key point of the season. Get some positive vibes going.

Right now the team I want to avoid is LA Tech. Avoid them at all cost. And besides the obvious suspects, Fresno St is the darkest of all dark horses. They could pull an upset or two.

Don't forget to bring your COWBELLS tonight and make a TON of NOISE!!!

I think common wisdom says no one wants to face Utah State before the final game. However, Nevada is playing at home, which gives them a huge edge. So, pick your poison. Utah State on one side of the bracket and Nevada, probably a 2 or 3 seed on the other side.

Novel idea Teddy-

Wins are good, losses are bad.

Nevada doesn't worry me much. Prevent dribble penetration and limit the looks Babbit gets and you have a good chance at winning because they can't consistently hit the outside shot. Facing the Baggies in the championship round would be my preference. All the while avoiding LA Tech. They are playing well of late.

Let's face it. Any way you look at it, it all comes down to winning three games in the tournament. Just about any team ou there can be a handful. If the Aggies play up to their potential, they will be just fine. If not, well, there will be next year.

The other twist is that if both NMSU or Boise State lose at least one of their remaining games, and the Vandals win out, then Idaho will be the WAC #3 seed by virtue of tiebreakers.

Just got back from the Boise St. game. It had to be the worst defensive effort I've seen from the Aggies in a long, long time. Boise got so many easy inside baskets. Simple interior passes against no defense. The Aggies would get a defensive stop and then throw the ball away.

If the Aggies play half as badly on defense in the WAC tournament as they did tonight, they won't make it past the first round of games.

Very, very disappointing. It was a joke of a game.
