Aggie football gets four verbal commitments from regional recruits

Doug Martin and his coaching staff said they'd make it a point to recruit more locally and regionally (pointing to New Mexico and Texas, in particular) and thus far have picked up verbal commitments from four such players in recent weeks.

Grants, NM quarterback Cassius Corley said he was “stunned” by the Aggies recent offer, while Rio Rancho defensive end Travis Parnell has also given his commitment to NMSU.

Two Texas-based players — linebacker J.B. Copeland and offensive lineman Dezmand Candelarie — have also committed to the Aggies. Candelarie joins some other local grads in his commitment to the Aggies, while Copeland made his announcement via Twitter:

Jamin Smith, an offensive lineman out of Douglas County High School in Colorado, also gave his verbal to the Aggies last week.
